This recent home improvement project in Staten Island was quite a challenge. The homeowner had purchased Anderson 400 series windows with wood frames and a new storm door. Both were custom orders with a 40-day lead time. When we at Brooklyn’s Best Handyman and General Construction started the installation process, we discovered the homeowner had measured incorrectly, leaving the windows too small. Not wanting her to wait another 40 days, we helped to rebuild her window frames to accommodate the windows. This included reconstructing the front roof area for the bay window and installing new vinyl siding. We charged only for materials as a goodwill gesture.
We also created new window molding, making use of oak molding to handcraft new window sills. We sealed the deal with additional insulation and waterproofing, ensuring an air and water tight seal around the windows. To top this all off, we protected the wood with a layer of water-based polyurethane varnish.
Throughout the install, we took great care to shield her home by covering all surfaces with plastic tarps, and cleared away all resultant trash. It proved a mammoth task, but the emphasis is always on client satisfaction at Brooklyn’s Best Handyman and General Construction.
