Recently, the attentive team at Brooklyn’s Best Handyman and General Construction was contacted by a homeowner in a 1920’s Brooklyn home, concerned about their insurance pulling coverage due to neglect. We swiftly responded and by the end of Tuesday, we had addressed all roof, siding, and interior issues that had been plaguing the property.
Our primary job was a comprehensive Roofing Repair. Initially installed incorrectly, the roof was sagging under the weight of seven layers of shingles – a violation of housing code and dangerous to the structure. We removed these numerous layers, replaced the plywood, and installed the aluminum edging, proper roof ventilation, and high-quality Timberline shingles from GAF.
We also repaired the siding which was deteriorating and falling off in places, using ingenuity to seal it up with aluminum where a match could not be found. Cracks in the periphery of the house were likewise sealed with cement and concrete.
Inside, we repaired five areas of drywall and cabinets, and created a new wood backing where there was damage. Although the owners opted not to re-tile the bathroom at that time, we left them with a greatly enhanced, safer, and more secure home.
